A belief is the contention that a thing is true, despite a lack of supporting evidence.

If the doorbell rings, and you're not expecting anyone, you might believe that it's been rung by a peddler, or a courier, or a cop, or Santa Claus. In fact, until opening the door to observe the ringer, the ringer remains a paratransitional entity which is at once the peddler, the courier, and the cop, all rolled into one. Obviously, the paratransitional entity isn't also Santa Claus: he'd just come down the chimney unannounced.

Upon observation of the ringer, that entity will no longer be subject to the rules of Shroedinger's Cat and will instead be subject to the rules of Heisenberg's Uncertainty Principle. Unless that entity has given up and gone away, now that you've taken too long pondering the ramifications of paratransitional applications upon reality.
